Beaufort City Council approves purchase of Beaufort Commerce Park
While the deal has yet to be closed, on Tuesday all members of Beaufort City Council approved the purchase of the 167-acre Beaufort Commerce Park for $1.85 million.
Council also annexed the land near the Marine Corps Air Station into Beaufort's city limits.
Still, the deal is not yet fully closed as the agreement to buy the land requires allows 60 days for the purchase to be finalized, and that clock starts after environmental reviews and other due diligence.
While that time period could be a few weeks or a few months, it's still plenty of time …

Have overdue library books? Return them like this to skip the fines
If you have overdue books that you're afraid to return for the high fines, the Beaufort County Library would really love to get them back.
So much so, that they're willing to skip the fine.
However, some conditions do apply. To take part in "Amnesty Month" from through April 30, you must return the books in person to a staff member at the circulation desk — that's right, if you drop it in the book drop, you're out of luck.

Personally, I'd confirm that the fine can be waved before handing over the book.

With a record high, the heat is back in Beaufort
Update April 3: Yep, not only was it hot, it was officially hot.
Monday's high of 90 blew away (oh what we would do for a breeze) record high of 86 set in 1935.
The story was much the same in Charleston with a high of 91 besting the 2006 high of 90. However, down in Savannah the record high of 91 set in 1940 held against yesterday's high of 90.
First reporting: It's been a rather warm start to 2012, but wether you're ready or not, we're due to hit the 90 degree mark.
Look for us to hit the high near 3 p.m. and a temperature close to 80 at …
