North Charleston 13-year-old Jackson Crist made it to the semifinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week, but he misspelled "segno" Friday to fall out of contention for tonight's finals. The Post and Courier reports:
Crist misspelled segno by adding an “i” after the “e” in the sixth round of the nationally televised competition, ending his shot at the national title. Only 15 students will compete in the finals tonight on ABC at 8 p.m.
Media General's Bee Blog also has the video of Jackson's shot at "segno."
