North Charleston is jam-packed with art exhibits during the month of June. From sculpture to quilts to live concerts, there is a little something for the art lover in us all. Below you'll find a comprehensive list of what's happening in the North Charleston art world, when, and where.
North Charleston City Gallery Exhibit: 3rd Annual Lowcountry Cherokee and Native American Art Showcase
The Lowcountry Cherokee and Native American Art Showcase will feature select artisans from the Eastern tribe of the Cherokee Indians, in support of indigenous artisans, Cherokee art history, preservation, and EBCI tribal commerce.

The Meeting Place Window Exhibit: Angie Brown
The exhibition Awake and Dreaming will feature works by Angie Brown in oil and mixed media on canvas. All works featured in this exhibition will have a strong emphasis on texture and color and will explore archetypal themes with dreamlike symbolism and imagery.

Honoring Zora: Stitching Wise Words, Art Quotes and Art Quilts
The quilts and fiber art works in this unique exhibition explore and depict themes and images of the Harlem Renaissance, garnering inspiration from quotes by Zora Neale Hurston, considered one of the pre-eminent writers of twentieth-century African-American literature. A short film about local African-American quilters will be presented during the exhibition. Co-presented with the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs & the Piccolo Spoleto Festival.

2010/11 National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition
The fifth annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition is currently installed at the stunning North Charleston Riverfront Park. The eleven month exhibition features eleven established and emerging artists displaying imaginative and thought provoking large-scale sculpture. Visitors can enjoy the sculpture displays among ten acres of walking paths, a fishing pier, boardwalk, an oversized sandbox and children’s play area. Organized and presented by the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department. Visit www.northcharleston.org for maps, images of the installed sculptures, and artists’ statements.

Summer Children’s Theatre: Mark Lippard presents Juggling and Variety Show
True to his razzling, dazzling, high energy nature, Mark is sure to amaze young and old alike with his daring stunts and juggling act. This dynamic performance will engage the audience in humorous, interactive antics.

North Charleston Farmers Market Concerts:
The Farmers Market takes place every Thursday through October 28. The market offers an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, and features art & craft booths, food vendors, and entertainment. Enjoy live music every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday. The June 3 Market will feature Blues, Swing & Celtic Folk on Guitar by Pete Ledbetter. The June 17 Market will feature Beach & Blues on Guitar by Steve Padgett.
